Compared with the reciprocating pump under the same power, the centrifugal pump has the following advantages: uniform displacement and stable pressure head; light weight and small size; it can be directly connected to the high-speed prime mover without a reduction gear; simple structure, reliable operation, Easy to repair; can transport dirty liquids. The main disadvantage of centrifugal pumps is that they have low suction capacity and no dry suction capacity, so they are suitable for placement below the surface level of the liquid being pumped. If it is installed above the suction surface, it is necessary to pre-fill the pump with liquid before starting, or use a centrifugal pump with a self-priming device. Centrifugal pump is currently the largest and most widely used pump. It can be used as circulating water pump, drinking water pump, sanitary pump, ballast pump, bilge pump, fire pump and cargo oil pump on ships.

Features of centrifugal pump

(1) The flow range is large (5~20000m³/h), the flow is continuous and uniform, the work is stable, and the flow is easy to adjust.

(2) The structure is simple and compact, the volume is small, and the cost is low.

(3) High speed, can be directly connected with electric motor or steam turbine.

(4) Insensitive to impurities, less wearing parts, more convenient management and maintenance.

(5) The flow varies with the working head, and it is not suitable for occasions with high flow stability requirements.

(6) The lift that the pump can generate is limited, so there is no need to set up a safety valve, which is more suitable for large flow and low lift.

(7) The liquid viscosity has a great influence on the working performance of the pump. Generally, when the liquid viscosity is greater than 50mm²/s, the pump flow and efficiency will decrease significantly and the power will increase.

(8) It has no self-priming ability. But a self-priming device can be installed to solve the problem.
