Introduction of Marine Cargo Oil Pump

A cargo oil pump is a pump that removes oil-based cargo. Cargo oil pumps are to be installed in separate pump rooms and are to be constructed to prevent sparks during operation. The flow rate of the cargo oil pump depends on the deadweight tonnage of the tanker and the required unloading time, and is generally larger. If the prime mover of the cargo oil pump is a steam engine or steam turbine with a steam temperature not exceeding 230℃, it may be installed in the pump room. Other types of prime movers are to be installed in compartments other than the pump room. Where the drive shaft passes through the bulkhead or deck, there should be air-tight or explosion-proof sealing devices and lubricating measures to prevent overheating or sparking. Common cargo oil pumps include centrifugal pumps driven by steam turbines, steam direct-acting reciprocating pumps, screw pumps or other rotary pumps.

For small and medium-sized oil tankers whose cargo oil pump room is located amidships, a double-cylinder steam direct-acting pump is generally used. A large oil engine powered by a steam turbine, the engine room is located at the stern of the ship, the pump room is in front of the engine room, and a centrifugal pump driven by a steam turbine is generally used. The full head of the cargo oil pump is 70-100m water column, and the flow rate is measured by the seawater discharged from all the cargo oil tanks within a certain period of time (generally about 15h).

Marine cargo oil pump can discharge tar, chemicals, heavy oil, hydraulic oil,  diesel oil, asphalt, tar and other oil from the cargo ship to the storage tank area through pipelines directly.
